This movie made me really sad. I am a 39 year old male and I actually had to keep tears at bay while watching it. I wasn't alone. People sitting next to me also had the same look in their eyes. I am not even a nature lover, more of an admirer. But this movie deeply affected me more than any other movie for a long time. Kudos to Cameron for being able to stir such emotion from something that was created from the imagination. It left myself wondering with irony, why did I seem to care more about this alien race and their planet more than my own?
Yes, I recommend this movie.
