I was very excited to see this movie, and was not disappointed, It was a complex story - cinematography was on point; beautifully shot; the charcters were just as complex as the premise of the story and in typical Nolan form, the ending leaves you guessing.. is it this or did it mean that? Leo was great as always, Joseph held his own as did Ellen. I loved this movie, one of the best I have seen in a while. Will probably go back to watch it again to see it I missed something..
Dwayne Johnosn is superb in his comedic timing and sarcastic one-liners. I enjoyed the connection you could see on screen between him, AnnSophia Robb and relative new comer Alexander Ludwigg. Carla Gugino shines as always. Disney has a winner. Make sure you stay to watch the beginning of the credits, foreshadowing of the next "Witch Mountain" movie?
I love Tim Burton, as do my children... and there are things that you come to expect from Tim Burton.. lots of dark humor. I am not sure what to say, except that this movie was a little over the top even for him. There were parts of the movie that I was saying, "Oh my goodness." (such as the large breasted woman, covered only with strategically placed "pasties" ) And other parts that I was confused on where Burton was headed. Conservative parents, or children new to Tim Burton's dark humor might want to reconsider.
