I can understand why hard core Trekkies would not like this movie. The back story was interesting but had some incongruities with the original series. The basic premise of the movie violates the time line paradox. Oh well. Put that aside and the movie was fine. The actors did a fantastic job. The 'Bones' character was spot on. The story was fitting for a Star Trek flick, with a single super villan whose conflicted interested leads to a critical (but stupid) mistake at the end.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Everything down to the lighting in this movie contributed to a fair depicition of the original graphic novel. It is worth seeing. Sure beats the single mindedness unidimensional x-men movies.
