The first thirty minutes of this movie was painful. I couldn't stand how they kept cutting in and out of high def and historic footage. It rambled and was all over the place and was barely cohesive. It got better as they went into the actual story but some of the writing and lines were cringe-worthy. I saw this in 3D and as with most 3D your eyes adjust after a bit and it is just okay. It's a really long drawn out movie and I found myself getting bored toward the last 30 minutes.
As usual Shia brings his humor and I enjoyed his action sequences. Ken Jeong's part in it was a bit over the top and silly and not in a good way. The female lead Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was surprisingly natural and better than I expected given the material she had to work with.
I recommend this movie if you're just going for the special effects and not the story line.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I had heard how good this movie was which sometimes sets you up to be disappointed but I was not. I loved the action, the character development and thought the casting was perfect. Would definitely watch this again and recommend to others.
Really funny with a few nuggets of truth. Crude in parts but consistent humor throughout. Not up there with my favorite romantic comedies but good for a diversion. And my husband liked it because they speak "guy" through most of the movie. I love the hot air balloon scene.
