Worth The Price of Admission

"Invictus" based on a true story, is about the fall of apartheid in South Africa, Nelson Mandella's (Morgan Freeman) release from prison, his efforts to unite his countrymen and bring peace by bringing the Rugby Word Cup to his country. This is not your usual Sports Flick!! The movie is very well done although it at times was a bit slow and boring. It's still an excellent movie. While watching "Invictus" I was reminded of quality leadership and the power of forgiveness.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Does not Live up to the HYPE!!

I had high hopes for "Armored" too bad it did not live up to the Hype!! "Armored" is about a 42 million dollar bank heist that goes awry. You will be surprised about how and why it goes awry. The biggest problem with the movie is there is not enough action, suspense or intrigue. Those are elements that help make an action thriller great. "Armored" is just good not great! The movie is too short, it ends without a proper ending. There is intense violence and some good acting, but that's where the accolades end.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not as Good as Expected!

"Old Dogs" is Slapstick Funny!! At times Hilarious!! While the movie is funny, John Travolta tries to hard to be funny and that hurts the movie. Robin Williams is a natural and he carries this film."Old Dogs" is about two long time friends, one whom romance has not worked out for and the other a permanent bachelor. These two friends have their everyday lives turned upside down when one of them finds out that he has 2 children the age of seven and they need a place to stay for 2 weeks. The story unfolds from there...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"Precious:Based on the Novel by Sapphire" is very well done! This movie is very moving and deals with real life/family issues that do exist.
Precious:Based on the Novel by Sapphire" is about a teenage girl named Precious (Gabourey Sidibe) who finds herself pregnant by her father for the second time, she has to leave the public school she attends to enter an alternative school. Her home life is atrocious. Precious is being mentally and physically abused by her mother (Mo'nique) and she finds herself helpless to stop it. The story unfolds from there...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"The Blind Side" is excellent!! Sandra Bullock is excellent in "The Blind Side". Kathy Bates is down right hilarious!! Set in Tennesse and based on a true story, a black homeless teen Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) with a below average IQ and grade point average who has been in and out of the school system suddenly finds himself the recipent of good fortune when one of his classmate's Mom and Dad Leigh Ann Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) and Sean Tuohy (Tim McGraw) takes him in. Eventually Michael legally becomes part of their family. This is such a heart warming story. The movie is very well done. "The Blind Side" is definitely worth the price of admission. You won't be disappointed.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Cool Special Effects, No Storyline...

"2012" gets a split decision. The Special Effects, Cinemotography and Visual Effects get 5 stars and the storyline receives 1 1/2 stars. There was no storyline or plot, plain and simple. If there was it was lost to me. "2012" is suppose to be a significant date for many religions, scientists, govenments and cultures of the world. There is an unexpected catastrophic disaster that nearly destroys the world as we know it. "2012" is suppose to depict the events leading up to the disaster as well as the disaster its self also exposing the "Heroes" as well as the "Goats". "2012" will no doubt be a money draw this weekend. What a pity...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Box" is the absolute worst Suspense Horror film I have ever seen in my life. "The Box" set in 1976 Virginia is about a surburban couple who are choosen to receive a gift (The Box). The gift (The Box) comes with irrevocable stipulations. The irrevocable stipulations are unlock the box and press the button and 2 things will happen, 1. someone you do not know somewhere in the world will die and 2. you will receive 1 million tax-free dollars in a suit case. The couple is given 24 hours to decide. The story unfolds from there... Slow, Boring, Unmoving, these are words I use to describe "The Box".
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Wow!! Even if you were only a casual fan of Michael Jackson "This Is It" is worth seeing. 30 minutes into the movie I was in tears... "This Is It" is rehearsal footage and concert footage of what was to be the 100 concert tour that Michael was preparing to do in London. There is a lot of excellent footage that is shown. He is singing and dancing constantly. He gives direction to the musicians as well as the dancers. You also get a glimpse of just how hard Michael Jackson works to prepare for his concerts. This final tribute is very well done and reminds you of just how great an entertainer Michael Jackson was and leaves you wondering what might have been...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Amelia Does not Take Flight

72 years after Amelia Earhart's disappearance a movie attempts to take flight. I use the word "attempts" loosely. "Amelia" does not even get off the ground. This was not a movie, but played more like a time line of Amelia Earhart's life. I was so bored at times I almost fell asleep. Hilary Swank plays "Amelia" brillantly but that is where the brilliance ends. There is too many gaps in the movie, too much left untouched. It looks as though things were pieced together and you are left to guess or fill in the gaps yourself. This is supposed to be a Biopic Drama, but it felt more like an unfinished spotty documentary.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Next to "Ray" and "The Kingdom" this is Jamie Foxx's best acting yet!!
Jamie Foxx plays assistant DA Nick Rice who has a 96% conviction rate. When a home invasion gone bad lands the 2 criminals in Jamie's hands, it's his office that is able to get one of the criminals to testify against the other for a lighter sentence. When the grieving father/widower Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is informed of the latest deal, on the surface he seems to accept it, but deep down he does not. The story unfolds from there...
"Law Abiding Citizen" has lots of action, constant twists, turns, intrigue and best of all great cinematography. Suprisingly it's not predictable. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
