Non-Stop Action!!

"Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol" is one of the highly anticipated movies for 2011. Well...it doesn't disappoint!!! The IMF is back in a big way!!! If you were mildly interested in the first installment, then you will love this fourth installment.
Tom Cruise once again reprises his role as Ethan Hunt. He is some how blamed for a bombing attack on the Kremblin. Hunt and the entire IMF team are disavowed by the US Government, while the president initiates the "Ghost Protocol". The IMF team is forced to go "off the grid" to try and resolve this serious incident without any backup or resources. The story unfolds from there...
"Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol" contains tons of "Non-Stop Action, Intrigue, Heart-Stopping Stunts and is Extremely Fast-Paced". Tom Cruise is awesome in this installment. You will watch on the edge of your seat!!
There are some really terrific scenes in Prague amd Dubai. The door is open...there could be another installment. The Mission Impossible franchise went back to the drawing board and they got it right this time!!
"Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol" is definitely worth the price of admission. You should see it in IMAX.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Unbelievably Bad!!

What an utter waste of time and money!! "New Years Eve" isn't close to entertaining. While on the surface it appears to be like this year's "Valentine's Day", it's actually worse.
Oh the glitz and glamour of "New Year's Eve" in NY and all of the preparations that go into the event. On New Year's Eve, we often celebrate a multitude of things, love, happiness, starting over and forgiveness as well as many others. This is suppose to be the premises of "New Years Eve".
The movie contains a series of vignette's that are hard to follow. Some of them don't make sense. There is no rhyme or reason behind some of the behavior you see. The actors do not mesh well together.
The movie is chaotic at best. Needless to say I am very disappointed.
Don't waste your money!!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

A Deep and Heavy Story

"The Descendants" is about a family with ancient roots in Hawaii. The family owns HUGH parcels of land in Hawaii and on some of the Hawaiian Islands. They have been offered a Billion dollars for one of the larger parcels so a resort and golf course can be built. The land is held in trust by about 20 cousins, one of which is a lawyer by the name of Matt King (George Clooney). While this transaction is being worked on, another issue is at hand. Matt's wife is on life support after having been involved in a water skiing accident that caused some severe damage to her brain.
Matt is attempting to comfort his two daughters, hold the family together and put his wife's affairs in order when he finds out that she had been having an affair with none other then the man who is the Real Estate agent working the sale of the parcel of land and if the transaction goes through he stands to make a bundle. The story unfolds from there...
"The Descendants" plays like a real life story, real emotions, real feelings and real grief. You can't help but feel bad at times for some of the members of the King family. The movie flows, it does not drag although it's sad and slow at times, but there is also plenty of laughter. Everything you see could and probably has happened in REAL LIFE to a family somewhere in the world. There are some nice scenic views of the Hawaiian Islands. The cinematography at times is breath-taking. The movie is not over edited, so you see and hear everything.
"The Descendants" is a pretty serious and heavy film, it's definitely worth the price of admission.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not as Good as the 1st Installment

This second installment finds Mumble (Elijah Wood) all grown-up and a father of a baby penguin named Erik. Erik doesn't seem to have the artistic skills that his Dad or Mom does, so he is very shy around large crowds especially when they start singing, dancing and tap dancing. Erik runs away from home and meets up with the Mighty Sven (Hank Azaria), a penguin that can fly. Erik is trying to figure out why he and the other penguins who look like him can't fly also.
When the earth is shaken by some deadly force, Erik, Mumble and Sven must find a way to save the Penguin Nation. The story unfolds from there...
This second installment is not as good as the first. Although a child will find it very entertaining. The sound track is great!! The graphics are amazing. The Penguins sing and dance and that all looks great, but there is something about the story that does not quite stick. It's not cohesive, it doesn't quite flow.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Ho Hum...

"Immortal 3D" showcases King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) who is a Power-hungry leader with a ruthless army. King Hyperion and his band of merry men reek havoc on all neighboring villages across Greece leaving dead corspes and burned out areas. King Hyperion is looking for the long-lost Bow of Epirus. The Bow of Epirus has invincible powers. King Hyperion believes the Bow is his answer to ruling the land. But someone beats him to finding the Bow. The story unfolds from there...
If you saw "300", "Immortal 3D" is the better movie. There is lots of action, but it's extremely bloody and lacks the spectacular ending that these types of movies often have, plus there was too much CGI for my taste. The costumes are interesting and Mickey Rourke does a find job playing King Hyperion, and that's it.
It's not worth the $15 bucks to see it in 3D. I really did not need my 3D Glasses and that is a total shame.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A Dark Satire!

J Edgar Hoover (Leonardo DiCaprio) the man who ran the FBI for almost 50 years is showcased in this "Dark" often times "Dull" vehicle.
"J Edgar" gives you a look into how the FBI was formed and how America fought crime before there were such things as finger prints, surveillance and wire tapping. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent as "J Edgar" but the movie lacks any significant punch. You must pay attention because the story is portrayed in the fashion of "J Edgar" telling his story as a book is being written. You get flashes of the past then the story abruptly switches to the present.
Although "J Edgar" is not as good as expected, it is worth a look.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Absolutely Hysterical!!

"Tower Heist" is absolutely "Hysterical" "Laugh out loud funny!!" I haven't laughed this much in a long time. This is the best comedy I have seen this year.
Ben Stiller plays Josh Kovacs who manages a luxurious New York residence. Josh is very good at what he does. Nothing or no one gets away with anything. A wealthy Wall Street giant named Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) resides in the Penthouse. When the FBI comes calling and places Arthur under house arrest for possibly defrauding his clients out of millions, Josh and the entire hotel staff are enraged. At first the staff believes Arthur is innocent, but when they find out Arthur was on the board of the residence and he invested all of their retirement accounts, they want their money back and will do anything to get it. The story unfolds from there...
The story flows, it's funny, it's outrageous, its entertaining!! Eddie Murphy is insane!! he was perfect for this role. The rest of the cast meshed well together.
"Tower Heist" is comic relief!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Anonymous In Deed!!

"Anonymous" is set in the Elizabethan-era where the Globe Theatre is a source of entertainment. The Royal troops set the theatre afire. This event leads to playwright Ben Jonson (Sebastian Armesto) being tortured by Robert Cecil(Edward Hogg). Robert is demanding to know if Edward de Vere, the Earl of Oxford (Rhys Ifans) is really the author who contributed to Williams Shakespeare's (Rafe Spall) writings. The story backs up and takes place several years earlier when it unfolds...
I like Shakespeare but, I had a difficult time following this movie. There were so many small stories going on in the larger tale, that I often times became confused. The movie does not flow and when it seems that it will start, it stops again.
The time line of the movie shows flash backs of the Earl of Oxford's intense affair with Queen Elizabeth I and how he romanced her with with plays like "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
No, I do not recommend this movie.

In Time!!

Image if you will a world where when you are born, after your 25th birthday your clock starts ticking down. In this world you pay for things with "Time" not "Money". Of course the rich have the most time. The poor are constantly trying to borrow time to survive day to day. There are thieves in this world, people who want to rob you of your time. Instead of police there are "Time Keepers". There are ways in this world to gain time. Many people living in this time driven world have centuries, which means they live for ever. If you want to by a car, the more expensive it is the more time it will cost you, this is how you live. This is "In Time".
Justin Timberlake plays Will Salas a poor man who often times has less then a days time, but he manages to be in the right place at the right time and a gentleman gives him a century. After Will's Mother (Olivia Wilde) dies from no time left, Will moves across "Time Zones" to live amongst the rich who have centuries. The Time Keepers back in Will's old neighborhood are trying to pin the untimely death of the man who gave Will his century on Will. The story unfolds from there...
"In Time" is not as bad as the paid critics portray it to be. I think it's pretty good. The movie will get you to think!! There is some suspense, intrigue and action. There is a "Cheesy Factor", but you knew there would be with this type of movie. Check it out for yourself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Some Real Steel!

Hugh Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a prize fighter "has been" who lost his chance at a title when 8 foot Robots became the fighting craze. Charlie is a promoter of small-time Robot fighting events. He stays one step ahead of a loan shark that he owes money to. One day the unthinkable happens and the mother of his son dies. Charlie has to appear in court to sign over his parental rights to his former sister-in-law who happens to be loaded. Charlie is more than happy to sign over his parental rights for a monetary payment, but fate has other plans. The story unfolds from there...
"Real Steel" has lots of action and intrigue. The movie is loud, noisy and crowd pleasing. Even in Robot Fighting there is the criminal element along with gambling on fights. You will be pulled into the story and find yourself rooting for one of those 2000 pound 8 foot robots.
While the story is a bit corny, it's still ok!! "Real Steel" has a fighting chance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
