More Under than Wonder

Given the promise of this project, the results are a bit disappointing. I'm no Carroll purist, so the idea of Tim Burton re-imagining Wonderland with Johnny Depp was appealing. But everything is a bit too Grimm for my tastes, and like the worst of Burton's films, the story suffers at the hands of his considerable visual invention. Looks great, but not very filling. A downer, in fact.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
