I've been to Disney Hall with its wonderful acoustics – but when I'm not in LA, the HD broadcasts are WELL worth the time and modest cost! In fact, we get more than those at the concert – interviews, close-ups of Dudamel at work, rehearsals, visual clues about which instruments are carrying the moment, etc. We plan to go to every concert that is broadcast.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Being able to watch the musicians and the conductor up very close adds a fascinating dimension to the concert never before possible. We plan to go to every broadcast, and hope they'll plan for more in the coming seasons.
This is about the best use of new technologies that I can imagine! Certainly our experience was larger than that of those in New York who paid much more for their tickets: we saw the conductor, the musicians, the sets, the costumes, the backstage, the scene shop, and heard the performers discuss their roles – none of which the audience members got to enjoy. Fabulous!
