Director Roland Emmerich at top of his game. Reminicent of Independence Day, but with less standout characters you ultimately care about, this is one visual treat with awesome effects. A bit longer than it should be, and John Cusack has to be the luckiest SOB ever. But if you want pure escapist entertainment, this is the E ticket.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
