Uneven, but very enjoyable

This is a visual spectacle. Most of the songs and dances were great - certainly, very visually stimulating. I found the movie to be very well directed - especially so for the number sung by Daniel Day Lewis towards the end of the film.
That man has to be a great shout for the Oscar, and certainly very strong competition for Jeff Bridges. What a performance! Also potential Best Supporting nods for Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard. And of course, what a treat seeing the magnificent Sophia Loren!
The performances and spectacle make this movie worth the price of admission, even while I doubt anyone will be raving about the movie itself
Yes, I recommend this movie.
