This is my second year attending the showcase in Westminster. Last year the thing was a sellout, and a blast, people were really into the spirit of things. This year, because of the Academy's decision to do 10 movies, I was only able to attend the second day . There was, unfortunately for the theater, not a big turnout. I would imagine most people went on the first day. The doors opened at 9, I got the seats we wanted, and set up camp. There was plenty of room to spread out and be comfy. The trivia contests were fun, if not well attended, because everyone was rushing to go to the bathroom or get something to eat. Movies started promptly, management was great.. I waited all year for this. Loved it..
This was my first year at the Showcase, and I didn't quite know what to expect other than seeing 5 movies at one sitting. It was more fun than I could have imagined. Veterans came in groups of friends prepared with slippers, pillows, blankets(not needed since it was stifling hot in there), and tons of snacks. The place was packed with people who loved movies, and were respectful of the other audience members. It was quiet during the films, and the management was wonderful, providing a little trivia contest between films. Am already organizing a group for next year. I took an unpaid day off work to attend, and it was definitely worth it for me. What a blast!!!
