I took my family to see Super 8 yesterday and it was well received by all. The family oriented theme did not overshadow the thrills and excitement of the story line although it provided both a great backstory as well as a satisfying resolution to most of the plot points. I found the ending a bit curt however and would have liked to see a bit of the day after the event. It was well worth the cost of admission.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I wasn't sure what to expect on the story, plot, or the CG special effects. My wife was also dubious since she doesn't usually like special effects driven movies. We both found the story line to be compelling and lost ourselves in the characters. Also we found the visuals to be stunning and very believable. It didn't even need the 3D treatment in my opinion to be a successful movie. We are in our 60's and don't see movies in the theater twice, but in this case we plan to make an exception. 4 thumbs up.
