I have an affinity for the "thought provoking". This film, with it's campy comedic interludes and Memento chronology, lost my connection to it's message more than once. Can't be sure if it was the screenplay, directing, or adaptation. Tom Hanks' talent as an actor has garnered him much success with lesser content in the past. This one will not be one of his memorable ones. It reminds me of a "B" movie at a Drive-In Theatre. Some times a good actor just chooses the wrong script. I saw Cloud Atlas as a painting with poor composition and excess content.
