It's pretty much exactly what I expected. The CGI, 3D, FX, and the motion capture were all amazing. Absolutely amazing. But the story has been done and most of the characters were pretty flat. Especially the lead, Jake Sulley. There just wasn't any depth to him. Most of the other characters seemed to only function as plot devices and motivations for Sulley, though most of the actual acting was very good. I would only recommend seeing this movie in 3D. The 3D and other FX help to somewhat distract from the predictable plot. Plus he filmed the whole thing with 3D cameras, so it was meant to be seen in 3D. The IMAX screen didn't really seem to make a difference. All in all it was fun, but it wasn't worth 27 bucks
