A Reminder

There is no doubt in my mind that this is a good movie worthy of accolades. Sean Penn is brilliant as Harvey Milk! Gus Van Sant managed to capture an era and a spirit that moved me to tears. Let this movie be a wake up call, a reminder, that this fight is not over. The GLBT community is still fighting for equal rights, for acceptance and for freedom from hate speech. Proposition 8 is a very real reminder that, though we may have made some progress, we still have bigotry and hate in America. It seems as though the GLBT community is the last group of minorities that continue to feel like second class citizens today. Let this movie inspire you to embrace the GLBT community and to fight for equal rights for everyone.
