Matthew McConaughhey has been to some really stupid movies the past few years and he finally picked a role that shows off his talent. It was a wonderful story and he had a lot of chemistry with Marisa Tomei. Would definitely recommend this film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I'm not the biggest fan of Mark Walberg, but he was very believable in this role. Christian Bale was also very convincing as was Amy Adams. You get sucked into this disfunctional family and just want to reach into the movie and join in the arguements. I have a feeing this film will be getting some oscar noms.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Way too scary for 10 and under

Although the 3-D effects were awesome, even my husband and I were a bit caught off guard at how dark, scary and nightmarish some of the scenes were. Had I known ahead of time, I would not have taken my 7 yr old. He basically covered his eyes through most of the movie.
I'm pretty bummed that they promoted this film as a great holiday movie akin to Polar Express. This was NOT a children's movie. Whoever edited this film DID NOT HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN and is pretty clueless. It didn't have to be that scary to get the point across.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I didn't expect to like it, but I did

My 6 yr old was dying to see this movie, so we saw it last night. I was not going into this movie expecting a lot. I saw the original as a child and remakes are usually not as good. I ended up really liking it. My son thought it was pretty awesome. The alien "assassin" was a little scary for younger kids, but overall, I think it is appropriate and entertaining for the whole family.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good For older kids

Coraline was a wonderfully visual movie, especially with the 3D glasses, but it is inappropriate for kids 7 and under. It has very dark, frightening characters throughout the movie that really left our 6 yr old very scared after the fact . It is a great story and reminded me of a Fellini movie put to computer animation! I would recommend it for older kids and teens.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
