Costumes and sets were spectacular, and the voices, as always, beautiful, especially the singer who sang the part of Liu. I'm glad I got to see this Zefferelli production before Mary Zimmerman put her minimalist stamp on it. This kind of excess is exactly what Turandot calls for! These HD operas are such a delight. Can't wait for the next season. I am especially looking forward to the intermission interviews, which I miss in these summer encores; the interviews AND the potty breaks!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This opera is not only a wonderful story with gorgeous music, but the superstars singing in this production were magnificent. Seeing them upclose in the movie like this also allows you to see some fine acting. The whole experience is just wonderful. Keep these great broadcasts coming!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Where were the intermissions?

Wonderful, wonderful performance, fabulous voices, sets and costumes beautiful. But I did not like having to sit through the entire opera without any intermissions. And the interviews during the live performances are one of the special parts of the broadcasts. If I remember correctly, the encore performances during the year had the intermissions. BRING THEM BACK! Also, please get the tech stuff fixed. This one started almost an hour late, and the one the week before broke down without showing the end.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not an opera I ever even heard about before, and I wouldn't have seen it but for the HD broadcast. The singing was wonderful, especially Hamlet, Ophelie and the queen. Wonderful voices and impressive acting. The HD series is so great because it brings these world-class operas to everyone.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Everything about this HD broadcast was fabulous: the voices, scenery, acting, orchestra, the opera itself. It is a wonderful experience to be able to see these world-class presentations close to home and for such a reasonable price.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
