VERY well made film about a Chinese 8-year-old daughter adopted by an American family. It is painful to see the intelligent, sensitive child wrenched away from all she has known in an orphanage and then a loving foster family in China, by a very caring, and committed family with another adopted Chinese daughter. She becomes American, but at a price.
The title is, I think, ironic.
At the showing I saw, the filmmaker and adoptive mother were present, which enriched the viewing.
(Written by an adoptive mother.)
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A very funny, well acted, nasty, somewhat obscene portrait of players playing Auden and Britten.
Great "production values" and a clicheed but entertaining story. Not a film to be seen twice.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

While not an action freak by any means, I found this somnolent and grim. The setting, physical and political, and the "action" kept me waiting to see the justification for the Times' and other good reviews.
A lovely family drama with nuance, it is visually and thoughtfully of interest. Topical and also timeless. Higjhyl recommended to those whoe like non-wild-action films.
