I took my 8 year old son to see this one and he wasn't able to follow a lot of the movie as it seemed geared more toward adults than children. It was fairly slow-moving and there wasn't much to laugh at or get excited over. The story itself is great to hear. But even the accents of each character made it a bit difficult to understand at times for me and especially my son. He wasn't very impressed with it story-wise. It's not very entertaining for children - it's more interesting just to watch the effects in IMAX 3D. Other than that, I probably should have waited for it to come out on DVD and been able to watch it in the comfort of home.
...I took my 8 year old son to see it after watching the trailer online. The trailer was great and the movie looked fun and funny, but the movie itself was not that great. It was difficult to follow as it jumped all over (thus the title Shorts) and the special effects weren't great, especially in this digital age. The story was blah and at the end my son looked at me and made a face as if to say, "that was it??????" If you have a real bug to see this movie, do yourself a favor and wait until it comes out on DVD. Between the tickets, popcorn and drinks, it cost me a total of almost $30 to see this movie and had I waited, I could have saved $25 and rented it in a month or two at Blockbuster...very disappointing! :(
This movie was SO great! I saw it in the IMAX in 3D and it was hilarious and a perfect family movie! My son absolutely loved it (he's 7) and wants to buy it on DVD when it comes out. The 3D in this movie was 10 times better than any other 3D movie I've seen recently...not sure if it was due to it being at the IMAX as opposed to a regular screen, but it was amazing!!!
