For this very unique and interesting tale that can only truly be appreciated by those with an active imagination. It is a wildly long ride through a real world setting in which the life of this character unfolds for all to see. A warning to those seeking action and adventure this is not the film for you. To the hopeless romantics and those seeking the strange and unusual you won't be disappointed. In my opinion it follows closely in the legacy of Big Fish and delivers all the weirdness needed to be as great a film.
Sincerity and heart is what! It starts of slow and midway through any reasonable person can figure out the plot of this film. With that said it is a prototypical Will Smith piece, filled with all the personality and emotion that keeps his fans coming back for more. The widely anticipated ending more than makes up for what seems to be a never ending buildup. In short. one would have to be pretty overcritical to walk away from this film without shedding at the least one tear.
As a fan of the late Rapper Notorious B-I-G I can appreciate the sincerity with which the film was made. Overall I enjoyed the reenactment of the late Biggie. Actors were chosen wisely and the setting though uniform to previous Biographical films gave you a true sense of what his personal life might have been like. Though it was not a terribly exciting film and at times seemed rushed I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of the late rapper. In short it accomplished it's mission.
