Oh, for the wilds of England, where the longbows sing and facts fall like autumn leaves. Nuts to history, say I. This is a perfectly fine historical action flic, graced with Russell Crowe's finest burly chivalry. I love a man in leather pants, no matter what era. And the merry men singing bawdy songs and dunking themselves in rain barrels doesn't hurt either. With bonus Cate Blanchett in armor and gorgeous scenery by Ridley Scott.
You see? The suburbs are dangerous! Live in the city!
Funny movie with a likeably goofy performance by Heigl and a stalwart appearance by Kutcher, who lets his abs do a lot of his acting, and we thank him for that. His "Blue Steele" face is still very cute. Never change, Ashton! Very fun plot, lots of good car chases. Tom Selleck completely steals every scene he's in, with a sly assist from Catherine O'Hara.
This review is dedicated to Bradley Cooper's personal trailer. Thank you, Ashley!
All beefcake aside, this movie is hilariously over-the-top in all the right ways. Copley is perfect, btw! Lots of one-liners, pretty explosions and the kind of stunts that used to make James Bond look cool. If you have fond memories of the TV show, this is definitely for you. If you never saw it, you'll still like it. Skip the "Extended Theatre Experience" theatres, though. The jet engines plus the deep woofer explosions will give you a headache.
