My DH and I attended a Saturday matinee, IMAX, 3-D. We thoroughly enjoyed the production with it's unique take on the story (or rather, a continuation of the story), the phenomenal costuming, quirky dialogue, special affects, and creative story telling. Certainly the IMAX 3-D experience enhanced the movie, however, this would still be enjoyable without those features.
We are not necessarily fans of Tim Burton (though who doesn't enjoy Johnny Depp?), and the movie exceeded our expectations. Fans of Burton and his unique style might be disappointed (my adult children's evaluation) because he has set the bar so high with his fans, but we found it to be thoroughly entertaining.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
