The IMAX and 3D were awesome. The movie storyline itself was pathetic. By the end of the movie I could not have cared less about what happened to any of the characters. The plot is a cheap ripoff from the Matrix. A seventh grader could write a better screenplay during study hall.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Eye candy but story lacking

Avatar was visually spectacular in IMAX 3D.
The plot was stale, formulaic and lacking.
The movie was also too long at almost 3 hours. Given the lack of a real story, 2 hours could have done it.
The IMAX 3D experience made up for an otherwise sub par movie however.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
