I'd recommend against basing personal judgment on these reviews-- including this one. This is one of those movies where enjoyment will be highly individual. Some viewers will love it and see it many times. Others won't get it but will enjoy the graphics. Others won't get it and will be confused... or will hate it to the core because they wanted something else than what the movie intended to deliver (numerous reviews here reflect the later). This is not a pristine movie. It is hard hitting, complex, and delves into areas people are not comfortable with thinking about. It delivers everything promised in the advertisements and more... but with a healthy dose of so many genres it's hard to list-- steampunk, anime, samurai, noir, goth, 30s ganster, war movies. The title on the poster cautions viewers: be unprepared. Don't go with pre-conceived notions; you'll likely have them shattered all over the place. This movie isn't pretty, rose-colored and the audience doesn't applaud at the end. One has to pay attention, stop trying to second-guess and just go along for the ride, letting the flick take us where it will. If one goes in with the right attitude-- this just might prove to be one of the most amazing films of the year.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Movie Overkill

I hate to rate this movie only three stars, especially considering I'm a real fan of the original TRON and have been looking forward to this one ever since I heard about it. But if there is one word that describes this movie, it's OVERKILL. From the sound that is in places so heavily digitized we often can't understand what the actors are saying, to the CGI that is so glaringly over-the-top and busy that it's often difficult to tell what is going on where, TRON: Legacy takes eye-candy to an extreme. It has neither the heart, humor or unique personality of the original. I'm sure most people will get a big kick out of it... but this is one movie where a little less might have meant a whole lot more.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Another Vapid Invasion Flick

Not the worst movie ever, but definitely vying for a Raspberry award. This inane flick and storyline, as the ratings and lack of recommendations show, make this a near-total loss for most viewers. I'm a real sci-fi flick fan, but the only saving points in this movie are the actors. From the Matrix rip-off robots (?) to the "War of the Worlds" rip-off storyline, to the total comic-book ending, there is nothing new, original or even interesting in this flick. If you're looking for another "Aliens invade the earth for no durn good reason"... this will fill the bill. Otherwise, I recommend saving your bucks and giving this load of putrid miasma a total pass.
As expected, the reviews on this movie are pretty much split. This movie can best be summed up as marginally-acceptable computer graphics eye candy. Without spoiling, this flick offers no salvation either to the storyline or the franchise. The plot is unfulfilling, anti-climactic, and just plain dull. At times the presentation is inconsistent and even ludicrous-- such as a full-metal Terminator wearing a mercenary-type bandana) and experienced fighter smacking-a-terminator in its solid metal jaw with bare knuckles and with such force as to actually make its head physically move (I mean, seriously).
