This was an exceptionally bad movie. Bad writing, bad directing, bad editting and bad acting. Ideal movie for ages 2 to maybe 6. My son is a bit older than that so he was offended and he does not have very high standards. Did I already say awful.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

While this is not a movie that stays with you in any meaningful sort of way, it was very entertaining. I am not such a film snob in that I cannot enjoy a light and breezy Hollywood vehicle such as this. Don't expect any depth and you won't be disappointed.

One of the best "kids" movies that I have seen in a long time and I see quite a few with my kids. It is appealing to adults and kids with a great storyline that can entertain both groups. Visuals were also well done. A big thumbs up.

Not as bad as I thought

Took my son to see this movie recently expecting the very worse, but was somewhat surprised that it was mediocre (from an adult's point of view) instead of really bad. The trailers had given me really low expectations. Still the concept has grown quite stale and this should have been a direct to DVD movie.

Historical drama

An excellent historical drama about a German businessman who in 1937 was a major force in saving 200,000 Chinese during the Nanking Rape by Japan. The movie has some strong scenes mixed with actual footage from that time. I for one had never heard of John Rabe before this movie and this film is a wonderful tribute to a man who was never honored during his life for his acts of courage.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
