Marvel comics does it again with Iron Man. Following in the tradition of X-Men and the early Spider-Man movies, this comic is nicely adapted to the big screen... perhaps more so for non-comics fans than those who follow the series.
Robert Downey Jr. brings the right mix of "serious" acting and comedic timing to this film. Jeff Bridges is truly creepy if for no other reason than his bald head and caveman beard. Gwyneth Paltrow... well, what is she doing in this film anyway?
Basically, this movie is a fun romp in a world where people can have names like Pepper Potts and nobody even cracks a smile. The special effects are done very well, and there should be enough action and collateral damage for any Die Hard fan. It does get a touch preachy and soul-searching at times, but I'm thankful that wasn't the buik of the time.
