Overall it was a great cast and a pretty good movie. But if you're a fan of Lisbeth's character in the book, you may be disappointed with her portrayal in this movie. I believe the Swedish screen version was better.
I was unhappy with how Lisbeth was portrayed in the movie. The acting was fine, but the writing made her more happy and fan-friendly than she was intended to be. The whole series IS Lisbeth and I thought the movie tarnished the character.
As far as the movie itself goes, it felt rushed. I'm not sure how the director/producer managed to make a nearly 3-hour movie feel like a laundry list of events instead of a story. The Swedish screen version was the same length and flowed much better. Also, in keeping with the Hollywood mentality, several events that weren't introduced until the second book were included in this movie in order to facilitate the transition to the next movie.
I expected a movie with non-stop laughs and lines to remember. With a seasoned cast of randomly funny actors, this should have been a movie with non stop insanity. Instead, it was feast or famine with the comedy. Definetly worth seeing.
