I agreed to go to this movie with a friend not knowing a thing about it. She said that it had created a lot of buzz and was up for an Academy Award. So, I briefly read a little bit about it before I met her for brunch.
This is NOT my kind of movie. At this age, I tend to avoid movies about the Holocaust and the Mafia. I must add movies about war to my list.
My main pleasures from a movie come from good stories. This movie certainly had good acting, good camera work and decent direction. More of a "slice-of-life" look at soldiers in combat than a traditional story, all it did was to make me think throughout that "War is hell and its best warriors are crazy."
No, I do not recommend this movie.
