Having lived through this movie's events, I was surprised learn some of the details of Harvey Milk's life.
I thought the movie was EXCELLENT for heterosexuals who are just becoming aware of the problems caused by gay people's second-class citizen status--and younger gay people.
The entire cast did a great job of capturing the moment, but all in all, this hardened older gay man hopes this movie will inspire people to rent "The Life And Times Of Harvey Milk," which, I think, captures in original footage the tragic events surrounding this part of our history.
As a person who lost his STATE job for refusing to become straight, Roman Catholic, and married, I see there is still LOTS more to do.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
