Tyler Perry has done it again! He has provided moviegoers with a film that makes you laugh, cry and think about the deeper meaning to life, all at the same time. Taraji Henson does her usual masterful job of portraying a complex character with the skills we saw in her in the Benjamin Button movie. This story takes you to church, back home, around the corner and asks you to look deep into your heart for the true meaning of love.
This movie was so entertaining because it was totally unpredictable! Although it begins with a graphic scene, it does not serve as a precursor for the flow of the rest of the movie. The humor interspersed with the drama of human behavior in a war environment, makes this a compelling story to watch. Brad PItt does an excellent job of conveying the cockiness and confidence of his character. Good movie to keep your attention the whole time!
This movie depicted a believable episode of the youth movement in the late 60's during the Woodstock event. During that time and as the movie portrayed, all youth, regardless of culture, race and background, shared a common experience of exploring the world through a lens of optimism. This movie was not at all heavy handed in giving some, who were not there, and idea of what it was really like!
This movie does a masterful job of weaving a tale of love with the basic elements of human nature, wrapped around a wartime event. Although Ralph Finnes is a central character, the more interesting dynamics occurr while he is younger. The unpredictability of this story made it keep my interest through its end. I recommend it to anyone who wants to see an example of the consequences of being ashamed about oneself.
