Other than the first of this series, I'd not been a fan of the MI films. This latest, however, is leagues ahead of any of its predecessors. Tom Cruise has matured well and the man in Ghost Protocol is much more interesting, dimensional, and appealing than the slightly manic boy we've grown accustomed to. The addition of Simon Pegg as the somewhat neurotic and earnest computer wonk significantly elevates the movie's entertainment value. Of course, it must be the Russians, cold war or no cold war, and the grandness of the match is inevitably winning, as are the gorgeous sets. From beginning to end, Ghost Protocol is a fantastically suspenseful and entertaining ride. Just what you want in a night out at the movies.
