Well, everything possible was done to this story to elicit every possible emotions - but the one main emotion: satisfaction! It is not a horrible movie - just way too contrived. Come on already - I'm surprised they didn't throw in a three legged puppy. Then there is the poor girls lips! Yoiks! Didn't she have access to chap stick? I am sorry, but I found myself staring at the weird makeup job, rather than thinking this girl looked to be dying. Anyway, Jason Patric is still a looker and Joan Cusack was, as always, the best. See it just for her if you need a reason!
The movie was fun and action packed. Star Trek aficionados will appreciate all the character introductions and the feel of the original. But as I said, Chekov steals every scene he is in! He is wery, wery good and I hope to see more of him,
The movie was great fun - pretty decent special effects - great characters - fast paced - all the things you enjoy in a fantasy film like this. And .. I like Brendan Fraser plenty - good ole' Encino Man still looking good - But, Paul Bettany stole every scene he was in and looks fantastic - he can act, of course, but I know he has been working out because he looks buff!! Wot a hunk-o-hunk-o-burning love!! Remember him from A Night's Tale? Chaucer? Woohoo! Can't wait to see him again!
Well written, acted, and directed - interesting story line - but still a tad too politically correct. I have known a few "Clint Eastwood characters" and his was a bit over-sympathetic. Still - can't have too much truth - Yoiks! - it would be too scary. Didn't like ending, of course, but the movie flowed well and there were some really well scripted scenes - barbershop scenes are great examples.
