Cars 2 shares characters with the original, but that is about it. This movie is funny, great looking, and a lot of fun.

JJ Abrams can really put on a show

Star Trek exceeded my expectations in every way. JJ Abrams was able to make a true action film, stay true to Star Trek, and make a movie that is entertaining to those who never watched a single episode (though that is hard to imagine). The characters were excellent and the acting was superb. Even the most hypercritical will have a hard time finding something bad to say about this movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
