bill condon did an excellent job translating the book to screen. beautifully shot. this is the best edward and bella have looked on film...in fact all the characters looked great. if you are a book fan, you'll love the movie.
Great way to spend a Saturday night. Chris Hemsworth played Thor with just the right amount for brashness, bravado and charm. Wish they would have had a bit more on how he became Thor (training and his skills) and his fish-out-of-water time on Earth (bits shown were funny), but overall a strong based-on-comic movie.
Check reality at the door as your really have to suspend belief at many parts of the movie, but still a really entertaining 2 hours filled with tons of action, hot chicks and cool cars.
Good mix of drama and comedy. The story could have taken over-dramatic turns along the way, but stayed true to real-life emotions, decisions and reactions.
Beautiful film with strong yet, subtle performances from the actors and scenery. The story felt a little rushed during their stay in the prison camp, but I guess the long walk was the main course of this 2+ hour film. It would have been nice to see some of the other characters backgrounds (the priest, artist/chef, accountant). Overall it was an amazing tale that made you realize that the human mind, body and spirit can do unbelievable things.
Casting was perfect, especially Emma Stone. She is such a good comedic actress, but could pull off emotional moments with aplomb. And that rich voice and interesting face are just amazing! She had a lot of dialogue (a bit too wordy at times) yet her delivery kept you interested. Other notables were Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as the parents...a bit over the top at times, but hilarious - made you wish they were your parental units. Overall, the movie paid proper homage to the golden age of 80s teen movies by trying to give it a new spin.
salt is awesome! jolie delivers in this action-packed film like no other woman, or man for that matter! the storyline was good too...wished there was more background perhaps showing her developing her skills (always a sucker for the 'in training' backstory). can't wait for the sequel....if jolie put on some weight, it would be even better....made you wonder how someone so slight would be able to take those hits.
while the movie was entertaining and sam worthington made it more than palatable, the original 80s version had a better plot. if only they had stuck to the original story line but improved upon the original's special effects (if you could call them that), it would have been a great movie.
