Just not good. Stay home and Netflix something and donate the cash you save to your favorite charity instead. You'll feel way better about yourself than I do right now.

Modern Interpretation of a Classic Film

Very good film. Good combination of SFX with a humanistic story. Not a mere recreation of the original. Where the original film focused on man's tendency to be at war and alien civilizations' concerns that we would bring war into space, this time aliens have arrived to save the earth from man's destructive tendencies (the subtext is environmentalism and global warming). The interaction of Keanu Reeves and Jaden Smith is memorable; Kathy Bates' performance is not. Interesting though sometimes heavy-handed religious symbolism. Recommended for sci-fi lovers, but caution those expecting a faithful recreation of the original to be open to a new modern telling of a classic story.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
