Excellent kid's movie that's fun for adults, too..

My family enjoyed this movie immensely. It was a nice afternoon escape, with a good balance of action, a classic hero storyline with a few nice twists, and healthy dose of humor, but physical and verbal. It might be a tad scary for younger kids, but my five year old was mesmerized and not scared at all. Some of the action sequences (especially when fighting the dragons) are very fast, and a little on the violent side, but overall the movie didn't come off as overly violent. The story is predictable, in the end, but has just enough twists to keep you interested. Recommended.
...This is a nice retelling of what is becoming a classic children's tale. The story is complicated enough for older children, but the themes are basic enough that a four-year-old can handle it. The pacing is good, and keeps kids interested with a nice juxtaposition of action and drama, although the buildup may be a tad slow for some of the younger ones. There are a few spots that might be scary for younger children, as well, but nothing too extreme. The story itself is a nice twist on the classic Princess/Brave Night style of Fairytale that won't surprise the parents, but does provide dramatic tension for the kids.
Overall, a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My 4 year old and my 10 year old both loved it.
