After a solid but not spectacular directing job on Order of the Phoenix I was cautiously optimistic about director David Yates' take on Half-Blood Prince, which was my favorite of the seven Harry Potter books. Sadly, after viewing Half-Blood Prince on opening night, I have lost the will to come back for the Deathly Hallows finale.
Yates and his screenwriter have successfully removed all of the excitement in their translation from novel to big screen. But more tragically, they have removed the sense of betrayal and tragedy from what was in the book, one of the most climatic and emotional scenes of all time.
