Although I thoroughly enjoyed the books, this movie was a HUGE letdown. The characters, for the most part, and the scenery were portrayed superbly, but the direction was sadly lacking. It made for highly AWKWARD dialogue between Edward and Bella... it was choppy and not too convincing. I say this is bad direction because, as an actor, you do need someone to give direction and say, "No, this looks awkward, try it another way." Obviously there were plenty of places where this just didn't happen. There were even some parts that were entirely serious that I ended up laughing at because they just looked ridiculous. Let's hope New Moon is an improvement. I can't imagine what the typical "sophomore slump" would do to the Twilight series...
No, I do not recommend this movie.
