Surprisingly Good

Not being a "Trekkie" by any sense of the word, I was skeptical about seeing this movie. I was expecting to be bored and lost in aspects of an old story arc that I was never interested in before. I'm happy to say I was wrong. This new Star Trek is a reboot of the story and characters, much like Batman Begins. It is fast paced, has great special effects, an excellent villain, and it knows how to laugh. No getting bogged down in long conversations about logic and love and etc. Unlike Lucas in Phantom Menace, Abrams gets so much more right. The movie never gets self-dulgent and too serious. The casting was very well done. It's a shame Scotty doesn't get enough screen time! It's 2 hours but the time flies by. Thumbs up!
