I went to see this movie with a friend of mine who overcame his own stammering problem. Such a beautiful movie that shows that speech problems don't discriminate and that even those of privilege aren't immune to the ridicule. A truly great movie that deserved all the awards that it won.
The book wasn't my favorite so I didn't have high hopes for the movie but I was pleasantly surprised...overall I thought the story translated better on film. Strong performances by the supporting cast made this a good film. It's too bad though that Kristen Stewart hasn't gotten any better at portraying Bella. Taylor Lautner & Robert Pattinson had better on screen chemistry than Stewart did with either of them. Maybe by the next movie this will change...I won't hold my breath. Still I enjoyed it.
Despite some of the rather cheesy special effects (what do you expect with such a small budget?) and the squeals from the tweens, I found this movie rather enjoyable. I've read the books and thought that the script was well adapted...sure there were some liberties taken but you can't fit it all in there. The casting was great and the acting pretty good...the chemistry between Stewart & Pattinson was what made the love story between the two main characters believable. I'll be interested to see what happens special effects wise and scripting for the next installments.
