I went in as a huge fan of the books and really expected a lot out of this film. I also took my wife who had never read the books. She liked the movie and wants to see the second book made into a movie.
I thought that yes, some of the dialogue was very cheesy, but it was a great movie. I loved the actors they chose. Kristen Stewart plays the perfect Bella Swan. I don't think Robert played a perfect Edward, he wasn't drop dead perfect in the looks department like the book made him sound, but he did play a good Edward.
I liked the movie overall and it went really well along with the storyline of the book, only a few changes were made to make the movie flow better.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
