17 Again is a disaster. The only laughs in the theatre came from 7 year olds; so if you are 7, go see it. There is nothing amusing about it and the ending was a failure to try to wrap up this inane tale of nonsense. If your sense of humor comes from getting hit in the gonads, this is for you.
Isla Fisher is a good actress but a crummy, inane script cannot save this trash. I couldn't count the minutes fast enough for this waste of celluloid to end.
In this, Carrey has to say Yes to everything. Hmmm....remake of Liar, Liar where he had to tell the truth? But...this movie is not as funny. Still, a few good laughs...so not all bad. Think that the oral sex scene was inappropriate for a PG--13. Supporting cast is weak and Zooey Deschanel is not compelling to be a love interest.
The cinematography and the music of Slumdog is reason enough to see it. The camera work is fast paced and covers all manner of angles. As much as I hate movies told in flashback form (and this one is told with three), I found it tolerable. The plot breaks down and becomes increasingly inane as the movie plods along to end in boy finally gets girl.
Engrossing tale of a true story set in 1928. Just when you thought the movie was about to end, it would revive with a new scene so beware it's on the long side but not objectionable. Good performances all around.
One of the worst movies that I have seen in years. The story is intended to jerk emotions. I like a good tearjerker but this one fails miserably. It drags and the "surprise" ending is no surprise. The plot is boring, dull, senseless and almost formulaic. Kristin Scott Thomas maintains a sullen, expressionless face on for the length of the movie. Ugh. This movie could easily put Ambien out of business.
