As a movie, without regard to the fact that it was made off of a book, it was erratic and dramatic. It was like a soap opera with rare moments of accuracy. Combined with the fact that it was supposed to be a visual interpretation of the book...it had uneccesary detail to events that didnt actually occur in the book and essentially didnt enhance the plot.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
