I was pretty much done with the Terminator franchise after the third one and wasn't really expecting much when they decided to reboot it, but what a surprise! The movie was really good and as usual Christian Bale was fantastic, a great choice to play John Connor. Sam Worthington is a find as Marcus and I hope to see more of him. The only problem I had with the casting was the kid who played Kyle Reece. He was way to young and baby-faced for the part; when he was trying to be tough it was almost comical. Great movie overall though and I would definitely recommend it.
Positives: This was one of the best book to movie adaptions I've seen in a long time. They pulled only the most important plot points and were able to connect them seamlessly. Negatives: The entire thing was over acted. Everything from the facial expressions to the actors movements seemed unnatural and at times comical. It was a little distracting in some places. Also, as a 34 year old fan I probably shouldn't have seen it on opening night with a bunchof screaming teenagers who insisted on giggling and talking through the entire thing. The highlight was at the end of the movie when the audience started screaming "I love you Edward Cullen" at the screen. Again, pretty distracting.
Although I thought the concept of the first ever sequel in the franchise's history was interesting, the storyline was weak. Coming out of the theater I still really didn't know what QUANTUM was or why Mr. Greene was being targeted. Also, was the only reason for the Colonel character so that they could introduce a girl Bond could protect? Was he really necessary? Also, what's up with not having Q or Moneypenny mentioned? I must admit I missed the gadgets. Finally, I loved the action sequences, but they were too close together. There wasn't enough dialogue to support why people were fighting or being chased.
