Escapist fun

I really enjoyed the latest installment of Pirates' movies. You can always count on Jack Sparrow for a great escape or two, although in this one you can actually SEE him planning one. I prefer the IMAGE that he just wings it all. LOL I had lots of fun watching this one.

I was struck by the sheer beauty in this film... and the story wasn't bad either. ;) I knew going in that it was a short movie, but the pace was fast and made me pay attention to everything as it happened. There were a few elements to the story that were predicable, but modern films rarely surprise me any more. The point of the "big reveals" in this film is that they're a surprise for other characters, not for us. The way the film was shot, the effects, the environment created within the film were all stunningly beautiful, in spite of the harsh, post-apocalyptic world. I really enjoyed the film as well as the actors' performances. Thumbs up. =D

I had so much fun just watching this movie. It has just as much great banter and humor as the first with a LOT more character development, some real consequences and danger, and another glimpse into the brillant mind of Tony Stark.
I was disappointed that the part of Col Rhodes was played by a different actor than in the first, but who can complain about Don Cheadle? He's just brilliant.
Sure there's some advancing of the Avengers tease, but they started that as a tag at the end of the first Iron Man, so I don't have a problem with it. I just hope they also have an Iron Man 3 in the works. ;) Can't wait to see where they might go next.
