I have yet to see a movie that comes even close to a great novel. This one certainly didn't prove otherwise. The 1st book in a series is so much about character development, and the film failed miserably in that regard. The story moved way too quickly. Kristen Stewart's stuttering, head shaking with every line delivered was over the top. Pattinson's angsty, nervous take on Edward did not at all reflect Meyer's description of him speaking from another era, and the fluidity he possesed, controlled. I also didn't buy the on-screen chemistry....Edward and Bella are supposed to have a love, a bond that goes alomst beyond description. Charlie was great. And the casting for the rest of Edward's family was pretty spot on, too.
