After being slightly (well more than slightly) disappointing after Twilight I went into the theater to watch New Moon not expecting much. Well...I should have! It was better than I hoped!
All the fundamental scenes were there and even though a lot were out of order or tweaked it still managed to maintain the theme and feeling I got when reading the book...I really give it up to Chris Weitz, such a beautiful film.
Best Thing 1. I could literally feel Bellas hole in her chest (Chris Weitz is genius! the camera angles/motions were magnificent)
Least Favorite Thing 1. I wish we got to see Bella, Edward, and Alice coming home from Italy, and everything that entails. It was a 2 hour movie after all! (maybe on the DVD?)
Lets start off by saying you have to read the books. If you don't read at least Twilight then you will be lost most of the time. The positives; the Cullens were cast perfectly! Also Jacob and Billy. The scenery was beautiful and poetic. The negatives; Bellas casting, and Kristin didn't capture the essence of Bella, very dry. (important, because the story is told through her). The movie seemed rushed, skipping from one problem to the next suddenly. Important parts of the story were missing. If the casting was better, the screenwriter did a decent job, and the director, this movie would have been a lot better. If you are looking for something deeper, like in the saga, look elsewhere. Read the book again, just to get over the movie.
