The director did an amazing job of balancing the darkness of this book and making a very enjoyable movie. I laughed, I cried and was amazed by some of the special effects. This is a must see even if you haven't read the book or seen any of the other movies. It stands alone in a theatrical stand point.
That said, if you want it to be "just like the book" it isn't. They do some things differently but it makes for a great movie. You will enjoy it more if you don't expect the book.
This was not a bad movie but it also didn't live up to my expectation as a James Bond movie. In every Bond movie there are the gadgets... there weren't any. In every Bond movie he "gets" the girl, he doesn't get the girl. I agree that there were some GREAT action scenes, without a doubt. I agree that Daniel Craig is giving Bond a new face and new feel but this movie didn't show off his skill. Overall, I would say you have to see it because it's a Bond movie, but wait until it comes out on DVD. I'm hoping the holes in the plot are explained in the "extra scenes" on the DVD.
