While watching the movie I was trying figure out what the heck was going on. There wasn't a typical goal that all characters tried to reach. (i.e save the world, the princess, or win the cash) It was a series of wacky events.
After leaving the theater and thinking about the characters, their personas/weaknesses, I liked it. As a fellow movie-watcher told me, "The story isn't literally fed to you. You have to think ." If you are going to watch don't expect a cut and dry story. As we all know, the book is very short. They just really expanded the themes. I wouldn't take kids to see this film, maybe 12 and up.

So after seeing this, I wish I had seen the show live. The projections and effects in the show were great. I agree that at times the film seemed a little "grainy". But, I know there was a scrim or screen that completely covered the state at times. I'm not quite sure what people mean when they say that the sound wasn't as good as they'd hoped. The performers were very entertaining, as Cirque performers are. I think more people would have went if it wasn't so expensive.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
