SUPERB - perceptive, difficult rewarding and one of the funniest films I have seen in years - to be put off by it is to miss the point of its many keenly observed stabs at "perception." Charlize Theron is outstanding, supporting cast peerless. Excellent and decidedly adult entertainment - see it.
Great acting and screenplay overcompensate for unnecessary hand-held camera work in this exceptionally wise film, easily Demme's best since "Silence of the Lambs." Hathaway lives up to the hype with a superb performance, while Rosemary Dewitt is excellent as Rachel, and Debra Winger just about steals the film in the small, riveting characterization as their mother. Highly recommended.
